What to Do

In the event you need to make a claim, the steps outlined below aim to make the process as smooth sailing as possible:

Take steps to protect the yacht and the people on board from further damage.

If the yacht is damaged in storms or bad weather, you must check:

  • If anyone on the yacht has sustained bodily injury and,
  • If emergency medical assistance is required.

If someone else’s property is damaged due to a collision, you need to:

  • Check if anyone has sustained bodily injury
  • Take reasonable steps to prevent further damage and,
  • Request and record the contact details of anyone involved in the incident.

Do not admit fault without written permission.

If personal items or valuables belonging to those onboard are lost or damaged, you need to tell the police within 24 hours if this was due to theft or other unlawful or potentially unlawful acts.

Contact us as soon as possible with details of what’s happened. Please be ready with your policy and yacht details.

If safe to do so, capture photographs as evidence and to help us understand the situation.

Alert local authorities

Promptly notify the relevant authorities including the police, the flag state, port state, coastal state authorities, in case of theft or other unlawful or potentially unlawful acts.
