Ian Hoy

Managing Director

As a founder of Tide, Ian brings with him over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. Most recently, Ian developed Beazley’s yacht insurance capabilities, overseeing product development, pricing, online distribution and broker partnerships.

As a keen sailor, Ian is able to combine two things that he is passionate about in his role at Tide: beautiful yachts and continually looking for new ways to deliver exceptional service experiences for brokers and yacht owners.

Paul Miller

Non-Executive Director

Well known in the yacht market Paul has worked in the Lloyd’s market since 1977 and have been a leading underwriter within the yacht market since 1985. Specialising in the Yacht and Marine Trade/Leisure Industry over the last 35 years and has been both Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Yacht Advisory Committee and Vice Commodore of Lloyd’s Yacht Club. Previously he sat on The London Joint Hull Committee for 8 years and also Chaired the International Union of Marine Insurers Inland, Fishing vessel and Yachts (IFY) Committee for a number of years. Often speaking at International Conferences including IUMI, Project 2002, Seas 2004, the Global Superyacht Forum, the Asia Pacific Superyacht Conference, The World Marina Conference and ChChaired the Future of Superyachts Conference for over 5 years. It is great to have someone of Paul's calibre as part of the Tide team.

Andy Childs

Chief Technology Officer

Tide co-founder Andy has over 15 years of experience in developing and delivering technology driven solutions in the insurance sector. Most recently, Andy successfully developed an end-to-end solution for managing bordereaux in a single, centralised and highly automated way. Following the successful sale of the business, Andy has been providing project management and platform design advice within the insurance sector.

Ajit Atwal

Underwriting & Operations Director

Ajit Atwal brings over a decade of experience in the insurance industry, specialising in the yacht sector. Before joining Tide Insurance, Ajit spent nearly seven years at Beazley as a yacht underwriter. He also held positions at JLT Specialty and Marine & COBRA Insurance Brokers, where he gained a well-rounded and in-depth understanding of the insurance market.

At Tide Insurance, Ajit is dedicated to providing digital insurance solutions and driving operational excellence to ensure the highest standards of service to our partner brokers.

Alison Shreeves

Head of Claims

Alison brings over 25 years of claims management experience to the team. She joins Tide from MS Amlin where she has previously worked on managing complex yacht claims as well as broader marine claims.  Most recently she was a Senior Claims Adjuster for Bloodstock and Livestock. Alison’s career also includes senior roles at RSA, Travelers, and leading Lloyd’s brokers, giving her deep technical expertise and a practical, collaborative approach to claims handling.

George Ayliffe

Junior Underwriter

George joins the Tide team fresh out of Manchester University, where he studied Economics & Finance. George brings a high level of enthusiasm and energy to the team and is looking forward to immersing himself in the yacht insurance sector. Outside of work, Goerge is an accomplished rugby player. Having previously been the captain of Manchester University’s rugby club, he is now turning out for Bournville RFC.

Nicholas Dugdale

Underwriting and Operations Assistant

Nick joins the Tide team for his Year in Industry placement while studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Exeter. Growing up on the North Norfolk coast, he has been immersed in boating from an early age and spends his summers fishing for bass and mackerel. At Tide, Nick looks forward to broadening his understanding of the insurance industry and supporting the underwriting and operations teams.

Combining practical yachting insight with Tide’s mission to simplify and modernise yacht insurance. We are delighted to welcome Captain James Puckle to the team as Superyacht Technical Advisor. With more than 30 years at sea, James brings a wealth of firsthand experience from life onboard some of the world’s most prestigious yachts, now channelled into shaping smarter, simpler insurance solutions for captains, owners and managers.

Lisa Davis

Executive Assistant

Lisa has worked in the insurance sector since 2007, supporting the Active Underwriter and Board Directors at Beazley, followed by her role as Executive Assistant to the CEO at W.R. Berkley. She enjoys assisting the Tide team by taking responsibility for non-underwriting tasks, allowing the team to dedicate their time to brokers and clients.

Tide offers a unique approach unifying insurance industry expertise, a passion for yachts, and data and technology to provide leading yacht insurance solutions.
